I'm at the American Bar in Hale Village with my girlfriend. It's a classy place with excellent bar staff.

We go to the Stamford pub in Altrincham. There's an open mic night and it's enjoyable watching the people play. Football is also on TV in the function room. All the customers are having a good night.

Altrincham is ideal for going out on dates because there aren't the thugs that are in the city. People on a night out in Altrincham are classier, there are more snobs, but snobs don't throw glasses and start fights. So on a date I'd rather be around snobs than thugs.

I've noticed in the city if you're with a lady a proportion of guys will be like - good on you - and a proportion will try to ruin a date because they're jealous. In the suburbs south of the city like Didsbury, Altrincham and Wilmslow people keep themselves to themselves more. Manchester is for the lads boozing, the suburbs for dates. Although if you want to dance with your girl you have to go to the city.
