It's afternoon and having done some work I am now at home browsing through Argos. Should I buy the Bronx 26 inch aluminium baseball bat for £14.99, or the Louisville slugger 30in one for £19.99?

I close Argos and consider how this is only going to lead to lots of trouble. I put Argos away. How did it com to this? Looking at a baseball bat to carry in my car.

It's because I've been dropping off my girlfriend in Ardwick lately.

The first time I went there, there were thugs milling around. I also noticed how everyone in the shared house has a personal attack alarm ready to take with them every time they go out.

The second time I went, people start looking at my car and pointing as I'm driving through the area. They start walking after my car.

The third time someone gets in a rage pressing the horn of their car because I'm driving just under the speed limit. Then they race past.

If you hang around these neighbourhoods, it feels like you have to have backup or some kind of protection. Or else become another crime statistic. Well, not even that, because the government will skew the statistics anyway.
